Back to School The Avenue Murfreesboro NashvilleMomsBlog

With the first day of school just around the corner, and tax-free weekend coming right along with that, it’s time to start thinking about back-to-school shopping! If you haven’t yet checked it out, now is a great time to experience all that The Avenue Murfreesboro has to offer. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump up I-24 from Nashville, and it is definitely worth the trip with great stores, plenty of parking, and amazing deals. The Avenue is about a mile off exit #76 (Medical Center Parkway) and is literally visible from the interstate.

What first struck me was the wide variety of stores, but what made things easier on this mama was the way that the children’s stores are arranged so closely together. If you’ve never tried shopping with a ten-year-old and two-year-old in tow…all while seven months pregnant (NBD!), let me be the one to tell you what a relief it is to be able to park your car and see no less than eight stores offering children’s clothing options—from Gap Kids to Crazy 8, Gymboree to OshKosh B’Gosh, and Carter’s to Stride Rite—all within easy walking distance of your parking space. (You could even just drive across the lot like I may or may not have done without a lot of hassle.) Seriously though — shopping for kids’ clothing can be challenging no matter the age or number of children you have tagging along, and this arrangement of stores is nothing short of ideal. Never fear—there’s plenty of shopping available for the whole family (Old Navy, Talbots, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Gap among others) as well as men’s and women’s apparel if mom and dad are in need of a little wardrobe freshening as well. Don’t forget Best Buy for electronics (computers are included in tax-free shopping)!

When it’s time to take a break—whether for lunch, caffeine, or just a treat to keep the kiddos going—there are plenty of options for that as well. Grab a latte at Starbucks, a cool treat at Sweet Cece’s, or a meal (or snack) at Mimi’s Cafe, Newk’s Eatery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Chili’s, or Culver’s (among others). (Bar Louie is a good stop if mama needs an adult beverage as well!)
