Wedgewood-Houston is one of those Nashville neighborhoods that just works for families. Creative, walkable, and full of places where kids can explore while adults still feel like they’re somewhere cool. Here’s an easy, low-stress itinerary that flows naturally from morning to evening.
Morning: Coffee Stop at Cafe Babu
Kick things off with a delicious coffee at Cafe Babu before diving into the day. Their cardamom latte is incredible. Warm, slightly spiced, and the kind of drink you think about later. They also have pastries, parfaits, and other kid-friendly options if the kids are in tow!
This is a perfect quick stop to fuel up for a day of exploring.
Late Morning: Explore Turnip Green Creative Reuse
Next, head right next door to Turnip Green Creative Reuse. One of the most unique, family-friendly spots in the neighborhood.
Turnip Green is a nonprofit creative reuse center that gives donated art supplies and materials a second life. Inside, kids can explore shelves filled with fabric, paper, craft supplies, and all kinds of creative odds and ends that spark imagination.

Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s a fun stop that gets kids thinking creatively.
Lunch: Casual Bite at Dicey’s Tavern
For lunch, keep things easy and casual at Dicey’s Tavern.
Our go-to order? The loaded tots and the hot honey pepperoni pizza are always a hit and perfect for sharing. The laid-back vibe makes this a great family stop when everyone’s hungry and ready for something familiar but really good.
Bonus! There’s a great photo opp right outside of Dicey’s. A large guitar that sits outside of an apartment building. Snap a quick pic with the kids. It was a fun and unexpected little “wow” moment for the kids!
Afternoon: Park Time at Dudley Park or Fort Negley Park
After lunch, it’s time to burn off some energy.
- Dudley Park is ideal for younger kids who just want space to run and play.
- Fort Negley Park is great for older kids who love exploring, climbing gentle hills, and taking in big city views with a little Nashville history mixed in.
Both are easy, low-pressure ways to wrap up the afternoon.
Optional Dinner: Stay for Aba Nashville
If you’re not ready to head home, end the day with dinner at Aba. This newer spot brings a beautiful space and Mediterranean-inspired menu that works well for families. They do have a kids menu that includes a Mediterranean flair and some basic necessities like chicken fingers and butter noodles. I have not personally tried it, but the reviews are nothing short of spectacular and it’s definitely on my list to try.
