Nashville Small Business Saturday Shopping #SmallBusinessSaturday

Ah, shopping. It is seriously my favorite sport. I used to love me some good Black Friday shopping. But as I got older, my Dorothy Zbornak temperament could no longer handle the crowds. I now either go later in the afternoon or wait until Saturday for another wonderful day that we now refer to as Small Business Saturday!

Small Business Saturday was first observed in Roslindale Village, Massachusetts on November 27, 2010. Since then, the phenomenon has swept the nation. Now, right after the craziness of Black Friday but right before the complete waste of a work day Cyber Monday, we have an opportunity to not only shop (yay!) but also to support our local businesses as well. If you plan to be out and about on Small Business Saturday, I have a few suggestions for places you can shop and get some quality goods!

The Shoppes on Fatherland — I love this area in East Nashville! So many good shops  Some of my favorite being:

  • Project 615 (I physically cannot go in here and NOT buy a shirt). Their shirts not only look amazing, they also help others with their profits.
  • Abode — This is the perfect place to buy someone a “Nashville” themed gift.
  • Be Well Nashville — A great place offering high quality supplements, cleanses, protein powders, & more!

Nashville Running Company — My husband is an avid runner. (I am a sometimes runner.) But regardless, we get all of our running shoes, socks, nutrition, encouragement, etc. from Nashville Running Company. Their staff is very friendly and will help with anything you need.
Fairytales Bookstore & More — This super-cute shop is filled with children’s books and toys! My kids love it! And after you are done there, you can head across the hall to The Pied Piper Creamery. Order the Trailer Trash. You’re welcome.

Rich Hippies — A baby/kids/home shop with the CUTEST stuff! Buy for a friend’s new little one or for your own. (There is also a location in East Nashville.)
Pieces Boutique — Women’s clothing boutique and, according to my co-worker Lizzy, they have some of the best priced jewelry!
Wilder — A home furniture, art, decor, whatever-you-need store!
Abedigo — A men’s and women’s clothing shop as well as a home and gift store. So many cute clothes and gifts!
And if you get hungry? Might I suggest a quick stop at Tempered Cafe & Chocolate for some artisan chocolates and—if you have some time—a fine wine & cheese pairing.

Scout & Molly’s — A new women’s clothing boutique! They have really great clothes at affordable prices. I purchased some sunglasses here and have gotten so many compliments on them. Seriously—on sunglasses. A random man on the street even told me he liked them. Apparently, they are magic sunglasses! I wish I’d had them in college . . . but I digress.

Posh Boutique — Posh has women’s and men’s clothing and shoes. They also have multiple locations: 21st Ave, Hillsboro Rd, and a store in Franklin.
Pangaea — A clothing, jewelry, and gift store. I have gotten some really cute jewelry here before. When you walk in, you immediately find all the things you never knew you needed.

Parnassus Books — When I walk into Parnassus Books, it’s like walking into my version of Heaven. Not only does the store pull you in and make you want to live there forever, but they also host author events.  I’ve been able to hear many of my favorite authors speak through their events.
Chic Artique — Beautiful hand-made wooden furniture! Seriously, such great stuff! Check them out in Goodlettsville. Jollifrogs — Children and Family boutique.  They have the cutest children’s clothes and unique gifts for friends and family.
Downtown Franklin — If you have never been to Main Street in Downtown Franklin, then I need you to slowly put down your computer and go there immediately! There are too many good shops here to name, but you can find clothes, home goods, furniture, more clothes, art, books, stationary, and the list goes on.

I know this was supposed to be about shopping on Saturday, but I just HAVE to throw in a few small business Cyber Monday places too! They may not have brick and mortar fronts, but believe me, they have the goods!

Hunker Bag Co. — If you want a durable yet stylish bag that is handmade in Nashville, TN then you must check out Hunker Bag Co.
Give Her Six — If you love Nashville sports and the SEC, then this is the site for you. These sport team inspired shirts are amazing and the perfect tailgating apparel.
Needle and Grain — Handmade blankets, quilts, and home decor.

These are just a few of the great small business shops that make up Nashville and the surrounding cities. I encourage you to get out on Small Business Saturday and check out your local shops. Not only will you be supporting people in your own community, but you will find some really great and original gifts for your friends and family.
