My kids are always asking me to make them a “fun drink,” and honestly, I get it. There’s something about putting a drink in a cute glass, adding a little cold foam and finishing it with a drizzle that makes an ordinary afternoon feel like an occasion.
Fall is the perfect time to take our fun drinks up a notch. And while I love a coffee shop run as much as the next mom, these three are incredibly easy to make at home.
No espresso machine. No complicated recipes. Just a few ingredients, a milk frother and drinks that look way more impressive than the effort required.
Here are three of our favorites for fall.
Harry Potter-Inspired Butterbeer
Whether you’re having a Harry Potter movie night or just want to surprise the kids after school, this one feels a little magical.
The OLIPOP Cream Soda gives you that classic creamy soda base, while butterscotch syrup turns it into our super-simple version of Butterbeer. The butterscotch cold foam on top is what really makes it.
What You’ll Need
- OLIPOP Cream Soda
- Butterscotch syrup
- Heavy cream
- Ice
- Butterscotch sauce or syrup for drizzling
How to Make It
Fill a glass with ice and pour in the OLIPOP Cream Soda. Add a little butterscotch syrup and stir.
In a separate cup, add heavy cream and another drizzle of butterscotch syrup. Froth until thick and creamy, then pour the foam over the soda.
Finish with a butterscotch drizzle on top.
That’s it. You officially have Butterbeer at home.
Make it extra fun: Serve these during a Harry Potter movie marathon and let the kids drink them out of mugs for the full Hogwarts effect.
Caramel Apple Refresher
This one tastes like fall at the fair—but in drink form.
The tartness of the Sour Apple Poppi with the sweet caramel is SO good, and the caramel cold foam makes it feel like a treat without being overly complicated.
What You’ll Need
- Poppi Sour Apple
- Caramel syrup or sauce
- Heavy cream
- Ice
How to Make It
Start by drizzling caramel around the rim and inside of your glass. If your caramel is thick, warm it slightly first so it drizzles instead of clumping.
Fill the glass with ice and pour in the Sour Apple Poppi.
Next, add heavy cream and caramel to a separate cup and froth until you have a thick cold foam. Pour it over the Poppi and finish with another caramel drizzle.
Sweet, tart, creamy and very fall.
Make it extra fun: Add a thin apple slice or apple pie crumbs or seasoning to the rim for a cute finishing touch.
Banana Toffee Cream Soda
Banana might not be the first flavor you think of when you think “fall,” but pair it with salty toffee and it absolutely works.
This one starts with OLIPOP Banana Cream and gets a sweet-and-salty upgrade with banana sea salt toffee sauce. Then, because apparently cold foam is my entire personality now, we’re adding that too.
What You’ll Need
- OLIPOP Banana Cream
- Banana sea salt toffee sauce
- Heavy cream
- Ice
How to Make It
Rim your glass with the banana sea salt toffee sauce, letting a little drip down the sides.
Add ice and pour in the OLIPOP Banana Cream.
In a separate cup, combine heavy cream with a little of the same banana sea salt toffee sauce. Froth until creamy, then pour it over the top.
Finish with another drizzle of toffee sauce, and toffee pieces, and put in a “fancy glass”.
It tastes like banana cream pie and salted toffee decided to become a fall drink—and I am completely on board.
The Secret Is the Cold Foam
If you take anything from these recipes, let it be this: buy a cheap milk frother.
Heavy cream + flavored syrup or sauce = the easiest homemade cold foam, and suddenly anything you pour into a cute glass feels like a $7 coffee-shop drink.
These are also easy recipes to play around with. Add more or less syrup depending on how sweet your kids like them, switch up the toppings, pull out the cute fall glasses and make it a whole thing.
