Roamstead: A Mountain Retreat in East Tennessee

0

One of the perks of living in Tennessee is the quick access we have to the mountains. We know you are familiar with Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but have you adventured in Cosby, Tennessee?

Roamstead is a an outdoor resort located in Cosby right outside of Gatlinburg. You can easily access hiking trails and the National Park.

Roamstead“Roamstead was born from a family RV trip across the country. Our founders noticed their glamorous plans often ended in glorified parking lots or dirty campgrounds without amenities or a thought regarding design. Alongside that, it seemed many campgrounds felt unapproachable to those who hadn’t been before. A vision was born to reinvent roughing it in a way that could welcome all adventurers to experience the magic of the great outdoors.” (Roamstead website about us)

I have visited Roamstead twice since it has opened, and it never disappoints. The first time I visited with my whole family, and we stayed in the Hemlock cabin which was originally built in the 1800s. This most recent time it was just my husband and I for a quick getaway, and we stayed in Pine #14.

One of the biggest perks of staying at Roamstead is the access to the National Park. A path by our cabin lead us directly on the Maddron Bald trailhead where we hiked for hours. On the hike you’ll pass streams and creeks and an old cabin to walk through.

The Lodge was a favorite place for us as you get free coffee until 2pm, free granola, and they have breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, and beverages for purchase. The camp store in the Lodge also has Roamstead shirts and souvenirs in addition to other items you might need camping. The kids also enjoyed playing board games and hanging out in the lodge.

Cosby is a hidden gem in the mountains, and we hope you take a visit to Roamstead soon!
