From 1978 until now, the Nashville Sounds have been a local institution and a great way to spend a summer day. The minor league affiliate for the Oakland Athletics, The Sounds played at Greer stadium for years. This summer marks the opening of their new home at First Tennessee Park—formerly Sulphur Dell Park. Mayor Karl Dean spearheaded the project, and there were only 410 days between the groundbreaking and the first pitch. The Sounds have agreed to a 30 year lease, so they will be here to entertain us for many years to come!

The Sounds will have fireworks 14 times this season. They are held after every Friday home game, as well as the season finale on September 3. The fireworks are launched from trailers that will be brought onto the outfield. The new stadium includes four field-level suites, directly behind home plate that are only accessible with a ticket! In addition, there are 18 club-level suites. If traditional stadium seating isn’t your thing, bring a blanket and sit on the left field grassy berm to enjoy the game. (It can seat 1,500 people!) We recommend you make sure to give yourself plenty of time to park, as the parking garage won’t be ready until 2016.
There are restaurants and bars for your convenience, but if you happen to go on a rainy day, don’t bring an umbrella as they won’t be allowed in the park. There are plenty of covered areas should people want to stay dry. Long standing Sounds fans will be glad to know that the guitar scoreboard is back as well. This time it makes an appearance in the form of an LED screen (equal in width to 860 32-inch televisions).
Single game tickets start at $7 (for the grassy berm) and $9 for stadium seating.
The sounds will play 72 home games this season, and we are pleased to partner with them today
to give ONE of our lucky readers TWO tickets to their June 29th game!
